We are looking for a detailed, analytical problem solver who enjoys juggling multiple responsibilities to join our team.The Senior Financial Analyst role at Lucasfilm offers a unique and dynamic mix of hands-on accounting, bottoms up financial planning and operational partnership.
This position provides an interesting combination of detailed accounting, financial planning responsibilities and operational support. You would be responsible for detailed forecasting and budgeting processes while partnering closely with key department heads. You’ll also ensure clean accounting records, including preparation of journal entries and reconciliations. You will work both independently and closely with the Finance team on a daily basis and will be in constant communication with our operational teams to address their dynamic needs, develop insightful financial analyses to support decision-making, support ongoing execution of the budget, and provide accurate reporting.
This position is considered Hybrid, which means the employee will work onsite in our San Francisco office and occasionally from home.
What you’ll do
Actively own the recurring forecast, Annual Operating Plan, and Long Range Plan for assigned areas including deep financial analysis, data entry into TM1, budget reconciliations, and preparation of supplemental support schedules, presentation slides, and other deliverables
Partner with operational department heads to build and review budgets regularly, providing key insights and recommendations as well as detailed analysis of responsible areas for potential savings
Independently reconcile and summarize detailed project data from multiple sources
Proactively coordinate with Lucasfilm and Disney counterparts to ensure a timely quarter end close and submission of deliverables
Research and document variances and other deep insights between forecast and actual results
Prepare journal entries and reconciliations with the appropriate supporting documentation
Assist in detailed review of accounts payable invoices and travel requests, ensuring accuracy and completeness of data and appropriate controls in place
Coordinate on Accounts Receivable with Disney Controllership by collecting and reconciling SAP data and preparing invoice requests
Build financial models and develop reports based on the needs of executive management and incoming requests from other stakeholders
Identify needs and drive efforts for process improvements, including use of existing tools and AI to build agentic and scripted efficiencies in existing workflows
Build and leverage professional network within Lucasfilm, Disney, and third party partners as needed to gather and provide financial information, perform analyses, and achieve other goals and objectives
Support budget owners with the purchasing process by providing coding, interfacing with Disney Procurement and ensuring POs are received and invoiced appropriately
Independently provide assistance in resolving inquiries for assigned functional areas and as a resource for other team members
Own full fixed asset cycle for responsible areas inclusive of budgeting, execution, and in-service details
Track detailed project and contract information, including maintenance and use of SAP WBS structures
Take on moderately complex to complex special projects and ad-hoc analyses as needed
Support our full Corporate and Technology orgs, Company Store, and Corporate Allocation functions
What we’re looking for
5+ years' experience in a broad accounting or finance role
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field required
Detail oriented with very strong analytical and strategic thinking skills
Ability to multitask, meet multiple overlapping deadlines, and make informed decisions about prioritization
A proactive, problem-solving self starter with a strong desire to contribute to the team and Company’s success
Desire to work seamlessly within a strong team in a fast-paced, unpredictable, ambiguous environment
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
Maturity to handle confidential information
Prior professional experience solving complex issues in creative ways
Experience with major ERP accounting systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.) and cloud-based productivity software (e.g., Google Workspace, Zoom, DocuSign, etc.)
Expert in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets (incl. Power Query, XLookup, Pivot, etc)
Interest in or prior experience leveraging AI tools such as Gemini, Claude, etc. to find efficiencies and solve complex business issues
Experience and proficiency with business planning software (TM1 Planning Analytics a plus)
Prior experience supporting a retail business a plus
Previous experience with ERP integrated project tracking such as SAP WBS or Oracle Projects a plus
The hiring range for this position in San Francisco is $114,800.00 - $140,200.00. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
