Legal Attorney (Fixed-Term Contract)

About the Role & Team 

This Legal Attorney role sits within the Disney Iberia Legal team and provides broad, cross-functional support across commercial, corporate, technology and regional matters for Spain and Portugal, while collaborating closely with colleagues across EMEA and the US. The attorney will combine strong commercial contracting, IP and data protection expertise with a genuine interest in technology, AI and legal innovation to enable Disney’s businesses to operate, grow and transform in a compliant and efficient way. This role reports to the Senior Counsel.

This role will be based in our Madrid office, 4 days a week, with either a Monday or Friday working from home. This is a fixed-term contract from November 2026 till end of June 2027.

What You Will Do 

The Legal Attorney will provide practical, business-focused legal support across Spain and Portugal, helping protect Disney’s interests, ensure compliance and enable strategic initiatives.

• Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements—including service, agency, vendor, acquisition, marketing, promotional, partnership and sponsorship arrangements—and provide day-to-day advice to teams in Spain and Portugal
• Advise on marketing, advertising, promotions, competitions, events, PR, image rights, intellectual property and reputational matters, including reviewing materials, drafting terms and supporting clearances
• Provide guidance on data protection and privacy, including GDPR-related contractual matters arising from marketing, events and other uses of personal data
• Lead localization and rights-exploitation matters, including dubbing, voice-over, rights assignments and performer releases across multiple territories
• Support content clearance and anti-piracy matters, liaising with regional and US legal teams where required
• Manage corporate governance matters in Spain and Portugal, including powers of attorney, corporate changes, resolutions, reorganisations, record-keeping and coordination with external counsel and international corporate teams
• Support EMEA and cross-border projects by negotiating multi-territory agreements, researching relevant EU and local law, and translating complex legal issues into clear, commercially focused advice
• Drive legal operations and digital transformation through process automation, knowledge management, template optimisation, continuous improvement and the responsible adoption of AI and other technologies
• Act as the Legal department’s InfoSec champion, maintaining knowledge of internal security processes and coordinating with the regional security team.
• Build trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders, represent the organisation appropriately and recommend practical, ethical courses of action that support effective business outcomes

Required Qualifications & Skills  

• Qualified lawyer with substantial post-qualification experience in commercial, marketing and intellectual property matters within the entertainment or audiovisual sector or in a law firm
• Strong expertise in intellectual property law, particularly in relation to media, content, licensing and rights exploitation
• Excellent written and spoken English and Spanish, with the ability to draft and negotiate complex contracts and communicate legal matters clearly, also to stakeholders without a legal background
• Strong knowledge of European law and EU regulatory frameworks relevant to media, marketing and data protection
• Strong understanding of AI, technology and legal innovation, with an interest in using them to improve legal services and processes
• Highly organised, analytical and detail-oriented, with the ability to prioritise effectively, solve problems and deliver practical, business-focused advice in a fast-paced environment
• Collaborative and diplomatic, with sound ethical judgment and the ability to build trusted relationships across different backgrounds, functions and working styles
• Resilient and adaptable, with a commitment to professional excellence, continuous improvement and positive change

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of European law
• Strong organisational skills, with a methodical and meticulous approach and the ability to prioritise effectively under pressure and meet deadlines
• An innovative and curious mindset, with a drive to identify more efficient ways of working
