Electric Operations is part of the Reedy Creek Energy Services (RCES) organization. RCES Cast Members work on behalf of the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District (CFTOD) designing, operating, and maintaining CFTOD-owned utility systems across the Walt Disney World Resort. This role provides direct guidance to the Cast Members that monitor and operate the 69kV and 12kV electric transmission and distribution system at RCES and the Planned Work Specialists that coordinate maintenance and expansion activities on the electric utility grid. Additionally, this role will be the team lead for the group of leaders supporting craft personnel in the field operations and maintenance of the electric grid.
This role reports to the Senior Manager of Electric Operations.
Responsibilities/You Will
Lead a culture of safety through active and caring engagement with Cast Members to support the vision that no one gets hurt
Manage power system operating procedures to ensure distribution asset performance meets customer, regulatory, and performance standards
Oversee electric system configuration control including the development of tracking mechanisms to ensure the return to service of failed or out-of-configuration equipment
Primary contact for external partners for coordination of power system restoration, isolation, and work protection
Partner with all clients to develop a mutual understanding of grid resiliency requirements while meeting client requirements for maintenance or expansion
Lead the team that plans, budgets, and executes maintenance and outage activities within approved budgets and schedule
Provide technical support leadership to ensure the safe, reliable distribution of power to customers and outage incidents
Provide leadership to 8 Salaried Non-Exempt and 2 Unionized Cast Members, ensure CMs have appropriate skill levels to perform tasks
Monitor control processes to ensure compliance with NERC, FRCC, FPSC, OSHA, and other regulatory entities work execution and reporting requirements
Lead the use of Maximo across Electric Operations to record to track utility assets and prioritize and monitor completion of all preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance activities
Lead coordination meetings with Power Delivery Service Managers and RCES Project Management representatives to ensure the appropriate scheduling and coordination of planned, corrective, and construction maintenance activities that affect the electric grid
Basic Qualifications/You Will Have
6 + years' or more experience in utility operations or electric utility systems engineering
Demonstrated experience with construction work practices, including outages and switching procedures
Experience operating the electric distribution (69kV and below) system, including ensuring system reliability and trouble response; experience in emergency operation of the distribution system during storm events
Demonstrated experience leading and implementing change
Proficiency using an Enterprise Asset Management System to: procure repair parts, operating supplies and multiple outside services; manage maintenance actions and personal; and administer the Preventative Maintenance Program
Experience working in different work environments, including outdoors and in a control room environment
Must be available to work outside normal work hours in response to job demand, equipment availability, and system/equipment emergencies
Preferred Qualifications
Experience responding to NERC audits and participation in FRCC committees
Knowledge of Human Performance Principles and demonstrated use of error reduction tools
Knowledge and demonstrated use of the Incident Command System
Knowledge of Root Cause Analysis tools and leadership of Root Cause Investigations
Required Education
Bachelor's degree and minimum 6 years progressive experience in leading or supervising team(s) in electric utilities or within a System Operator/Control Room environment.
Preferred Education
Bachelor's Degree in STEM discipline (Engineering, Applied Sciences, etc.)
NERC System Operator Certification
