The Entertainment Technical Manager is a pivotal leader within Disney Experiences, responsible for the strategic planning, safe execution, and ongoing sustainment of technical systems that support live shows, parades, events, and special entertainment offerings across the resort.

In this management role, you will supervise and mentor technical teams, coordinate complex operating logistics, and ensure that entertainment offerings are delivered safely, reliably, and in alignment with Disney’s creative intent and guest service standards. Your leadership, planning, collaboration, and problem-solving skills will be essential to maintaining world-class entertainment experiences and supporting the broader Disney Experiences segment.

This full-time, salaried position reports to the Entertainment & Activities Director and will be working onsite at Aulani Resort on Oahu, Hawaii.

Responsibilities:

• Promote and enforce a safe working environment by demonstrating thorough knowledge of safety standards, emergency procedures, and proper handling of technical assets, while identifying and correcting at-risk behaviors.
• Coordinate technical operating logistics, including budgets, timelines, facility improvements, capital equipment planning, scheduling, and labor management to support shows, parades, and special events.
• Lead, guide, and develop Stage Technicians and technical Cast Members through coaching, mentoring, performance feedback, and recognition, fostering a collaborative, high-performing team culture aligned with Disney values.
• Oversee daily deployment of cast members, workforce planning, schedules, and time recording, ensuring efficient use of labor and adherence to attendance, grooming, and conduct guidelines.
• Manage operating and capital budgets for technical operations, including equipment maintenance, inventory, tools, and show rehabilitation, identifying efficiencies while maintaining entertainment quality and creative intent.
• Provide training and leadership for the setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of audio, lighting, video, networking, scenic, rigging, and show control systems, internally and with third-party vendors as needed.
• Maintain show integrity and reliability by conducting inspections, reviewing show reports, monitoring recurring technical issues, and ensuring operating guides, OJT materials, and maintenance programs are current and followed.
• Collaborate with Entertainment Production, Show Operations, Costuming, Facilities, and other partners to support seamless daily operations, venue standards, and guest-focused entertainment delivery.
• Ensure administrative excellence by managing technical documentation, work orders, purchase requisitions, inventories, maintenance logs, and compliance with company, state, and federal policies.
• Act as a role model for exceptional Guest service, answering questions related to entertainment operations and providing timely information and responses to internal and external clients.

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in live entertainment technical operations, show production, or technical direction, including 2+ years of supervisory or management experience leading hourly cast.
• Demonstrated leadership skills in supervising, coaching, and mentoring technical teams, holding self and others accountable to meet operational commitments.
• Strong planning and prioritization abilities, with experience managing schedules, labor deployment, and multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced entertainment environment.
• Extensive technical knowledge of audio, lighting, video, computer networking, scenic, rigging, and stage systems, including show control and live event operations.
• Proven experience with budgeting, expense tracking, and capital planning for technical equipment, maintenance, and labor resources.
• Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate across departments, build effective partnerships, and resolve day-to-day operational problems with sound judgment.
• Knowledge of safety procedures, regulatory compliance, and best practices for safe operation and maintenance of entertainment technical assets.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and occasional overnight shifts, based on show and event needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Leadership experience in a technical theater, live entertainment, or maintenance environment.
• Project management or change management experience supporting complex entertainment technical operations and maintenance programs.

Education:

• Required: Bachelor's degree or minimum 5 years of related experience
• Preferred: Master’s degree or advanced education in a theatre-related or entertainment technology field.

The hiring range for this position in Hawaii is $79,400 to $106,400 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
