Data Analyst Intern, Global Security Control Center, Spring 2027027

About the Role & Program  

The Global Security Control Center (GSCC) is responsible for supporting emergency and non-emergency events, researching global affairs, incoming call mitigation, event dispatching, and event-driven global notification services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In an emergency, the team advises and coordinates Disney enterprise assistance and support by providing technical and advisory support for the performance of crucial operational services, the issuance of warnings of risks and hazards, dissemination of employee information, as well as serving the central communication intake point for management, control and reduction of immediate threats to health and safety.

This internship is a full-time, six-month commitment in the Burbank, CA area from January 2027 – June 2027.

What You Will Do

As a Data Analyst Intern, you will join the Strategic Operations team and support an exploratory, data-driven initiative focused on assessing GSCC data sources, reporting needs, and opportunities to improve operational insight and executive-level decision-making. Every day is unique in this role. Depending on the project phase, you may be responsible for: 

• Assessing and documenting GSCC data sources, workflows, and reporting requirements. 

• Evaluating the quality, accessibility, and integration potential of disparate data sources across the enterprise. 

• Designing and developing proof-of-concept dashboards and data visualizations using Power BI or comparable business intelligence tools. 

• Conducting exploratory data analysis to identify trends, gaps, relationships, and opportunities for operational insight. 

• Identifying opportunities for automation, process improvement, and enhanced reporting capabilities. 

• Supporting the development of executive-level reports, scorecards, performance metrics, and leadership-ready summaries. 

• Collaborating with the GSCC Specialist team, mentors, and business partners to understand operational requirements and translate them into analytical solutions. 

• Presenting findings, feasibility assessments, recommendations, and project updates to leadership and key stakeholders. 

• Assisting with the development of a long-term data and reporting approach that supports GSCC operational effectiveness and decision-making. 

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Working knowledge of data visualization and business intelligence tools, including Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms. 

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data manipulation, validation, analysis, and reporting. 

• Familiarity with basic database and query concepts, including SQL or similar data retrieval methods. 

• Familiarity with data transformation, light automation, or scripting tools such as Power Query, Python, or equivalent technologies. 

• Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, including the ability to evaluate data quality and flow, identify gaps, and assess the feasibility of proposed solutions. 

• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to translate technical findings into clear, concise, leadership-ready summaries and reports. 

• Demonstrated professionalism, sound judgment, discretion, and attention to detail when handling sensitive or confidential security-related information. 

• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage ambiguity, evolving requirements, and multiple priorities. 

• Ability to work independently with appropriate guidance while collaborating closely with the GSCC Specialist team, mentor, and cross-functional partners. 

• Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams, with the ability to learn new programs and technical systems quickly. 

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience developing dashboards, reports, or executive-level performance metrics using Power BI, Tableau, or similar business intelligence tools. 

• Experience integrating or analyzing data from multiple sources to identify trends, relationships, and operational insights. 

• Familiarity with data governance, data quality assessment, and reporting best practices. 

• Some experience with Python, SQL, Power Automate, Power Query, or other automation tools. 

• Interested in global security operations, intelligence analysis, risk assessment, crisis management, strategic operations, security studies, international relations, or intelligence studies. 

• Experience presenting analytical findings to stakeholders in a professional or academic setting. 

• Demonstrated business acumen and the ability to communicate complex concepts to non-technical audiences. 

• Coursework or academic projects involving data visualization, business intelligence, database management, statistical analysis and/or predictive analytics. 

Education

• Junior or Senior year preferred

• Major or previous coursework in Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, Information Systems, Statistics or a related field. 

Eligibility Requirements & Program Information

Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements:

• Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class at time of application posting OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship​

• Be at least 18 years of age​

• Possess unrestricted work authorization​

• Have not completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or Disney College Program

Additional Information 

• Candidate must be fully available to work full-time hours (approximately 40 hours per week) for the duration of the internship, Monday-Friday during normal business hours.

• This internship is an on-site position, but also requires a working, reliable internet connection as well as a quiet, dedicated workspace for the days you may work from home.

• Able to provide your own housing and reliable transportation for the duration of the internship program
