Sr Mechanical Engineer

Architecture & Facilities Engineering (A&FE) is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join the core team supporting the Disneyland Resort as an Owner's Representative across a diverse portfolio of our properties in Anaheim, California. You will manage the full range of mechanical systems — HVAC, central plant, and hydraulics/hydronics/compressed air — with independent ownership of above- and below-ground mechanical utilities and deep expertise in kitchen and food-and-beverage systems. The breadth of our portfolio includes immersive attraction buildings, themed retail, destination hotels, restaurants, offices, entertainment facilities, and backstage infrastructure. 

In this role, you will lead design coordination across back-of-house and guest-visible ("show") kitchen environments, apply engineering judgment on evolving design conditions beyond standard reference tables, and develop bid-level construction documents. You will act as a technical resource for colleagues with less experience, provide immediate support on reactionary projects, and partner with internal teams and outside firms to keep complex mechanical work moving safely around our guests and operations. 

Success in this role requires strong collaboration and communication: reviewing outside design work, coordinating with consultants and contractors, confirming code compliance, and building consensus across disciplines to keep projects on scope, schedule, and budget. 

You will report to the Manager, MEP Engineering. 

 

What You Will Do 

Project Leadership & Coordination 

• Act as Owner's Representative on mechanical engineering projects from concept through construction at the Disneyland Resort. 

• Manage the design and development of contract documents with in-house and outside resources to meet project scopes, schedules, and budgets. 

• Coordinate design activities and monitor field installations and demolition work for compliance with specifications and code requirements. 

• Develop concept designs and support Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for external design and consulting services. 

• Provide immediate support and response to reactionary projects requiring urgent attention. 

Technical Design & Support 

• Independently own the full above- and below-ground mechanical utility scope, with kitchen/food-and-beverage systems expertise, leading design coordination across back-of-house and guest-visible ("show") kitchen environments. 

• Review drawings, engineering calculations, and specifications to ensure all projects are designed and executed to applicable local and state codes and statutes. 

• Review shop drawing submittals and respond to vendor Requests for Information (RFIs) per Resort standards. 

• Conduct site visits to problem-solve issues and minimize schedule impacts. 

• Witness the signing and sealing of construction documents as needed; act as a technical resource for colleagues with less mechanical engineering experience, including mentoring assigned interns. 

 

What We Look For 

• 5+ years of professional mechanical engineering experience with a strong, demonstrated foundation of technical knowledge. 
• Strong working knowledge of the California Mechanical Code, ASHRAE standards, and the California Energy Code (Title 24). 

• Demonstrated ability to motivate and oversee the work of others, including assigned interns. 

• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate unfamiliar issues, synthesize information, and recommend effective solutions. 

• Demonstrated ability to independently own complex mechanical utility scopes and lead design coordination across multiple stakeholders. 

• Experience with design, procurement, and logistics, and a track record collaborating effectively in a team environment. 

• Practical field/project experience valued at least as much as academic credentials alone. 

 

Required Education and licensure 

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited university. 

• Current Professional Engineer (PE) license.

 

Preferred Qualifications 

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, and/or MBA. 
• Disneyland College Program or internship experience. 

• Experience with other Disneyland Resort Lines of Business (LOB).

The hiring range for this position in Anaheim, CA is $115,300.00 to $140,900.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographical region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
